ABSTRACT

Power theft has become a great challenge to the electricity board. The day by day report that Electricity Board suffers a total loss of 8% in revenue due to power theft every year, which has to control.

It is a very common problem in countries like India, where population is very high and the users of electricity are ultimately tremendous. In India, every year there is huge increasing number of electricity thefts across domestic electricity connections as well as industrial electricity supply, which results in loss of electricity. Due to that we are facing the frequent problems of load shading in urban as well as rural area so as to overcome the need of electricity for whole state. Also the ways by which theft can be done are also innumerable so we can never keep track of how a theft has occurred, and this issue is should be solved as early as possible.

The Approach

Power theft detection is very difficult in real environment, to detect and capture while electricity theft is going on. To detect and capture electricity theft we need to send active current data of electricity so we can detect and calculate amount of electricity theft. By sending active current data of electricity to a particular place where we are storing and comparing consumption of electricity with the supply from source, we also considering some reference amount which is negligible while comparing department electricity supply and
consumer electricity consumption.

To present this architecture it is very difficult to implement in real environment so here we are implementing demo model of the proposed architecture. In this by supply our main electricity through department side to consumer side and comparing both side electric meter reading at the end if we are getting difference between both side reading then we find out there is some extra electricity consumption is going on.
